Professor (Mrs) E.J. Egwunyenga

Professor (Mrs.) Ebele Joyce Egwunyenga was born on the 5th of August, 1963
to the family of Late Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Elizabeth Atuma in Ukwuani Local
Government Area of Delta State.
The youngest in a family of six children. She grew up in Benin and obtained her
First degree, Masters and Ph.D from the University of Benin, Benin City. When Delta
State University, Abraka was established, she was among the first set of young
academics employed by the University in 1993 as an Assistant Lecturer. She rose
through the ranks to the position of Professor in 2010. She has served the university in
various capacities. These include Head of Department of Educational Management and
Foundations, Chairman, Joint Affiliate Degree Programmes, Business Editor, DELSU
Journal of Educational Research and Development (DJERD). She was the Director of
Centre for Gender and Development Studies, a member of important university’s bodies
and management committees, including Senate and Appointments and Promotion
Committee (A & PC) etc.
Prof (Mrs.) Egwunyenga is widely published in reputable National and
International Journals and belongs to many professional bodies/societies. Outside the
Delta State University, she is a member of the Governing Council of University of
Delta, Agbor.
Prof. (Mrs.) Egwunyenga is a devoted Catholic Christian. She has served the
church in various capacities including, Chairman Harvest Committee, Financial
Secretary-CWO, Financial Secretary/Treasurer-Christian Mother, Secretary-Sacred
Heart Society and many others. She is an Awardee as Ezinne of various Parishes,
Awardee of CWO-Warri Dioceses and Awardee of CWO at Provincial level, Benin
City.
She is married to Prof Andy Egwunyenga and they are blessed with children
