I am Malachy Ugwummadu, a legal practitioner of over two decades post-call. I have been and remain an integral member of the human rights, pro-democracy community in Nigeria since the days of my undergraduate studies at the University of Nigeria.
I was the National Deputy General Secretary of the Joint Action Congress of Nigeria (JACON), a formidable umbrella pro democracy campaign group that fought against military rule in Nigeria ably led by Late Chief Gani Fawehinmi(1997-1999).
I was a senior research officer at the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), two-term General Secretary of the CDHR (2005-2009), and eventually two term National President of the same organization. (2015-2019).
I am in the governing board of some rights and advocate groups in Nigeria and a joint legal Advisor of the Movement for the Liberation of Western Sahara, an advocacy and self determination group co-founded by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Academic Staff Union of the University (ASUU).
